A mother explained how an older brother noticed something on his little sister and may have saved her life.

“Amy and Aaron were just playing tickle monsters in the other room when Aaron has looked down Amy's throat while she was laughing and seen the growth and thought 'that's not right,'” explained their mother, Carly East, to the Daily Mail. “My first thought when Aaron showed me Amy's throat was that it was a tumor. My uncle passed away recently from cancer and my dad has also been treated so it has been at the forefront of my mind anyway.”

The anxious mother took her daughter to the hospital immediately. “Waiting until Monday morning was not an option and I had a knot in my stomach when I was going to the hospital but had to keep it together and stay strong for the kids. I could just feel that something was wrong straight away.”

At the hospital, the growth was identified as a tumor and was surgically removed. Specialists at the University College London Hospital subsequently diagnosed the tumor as being rhabdomyosarcoma -- a rare soft-tissue cancer.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

The treatment involves nine rounds of chemotherapy, followed by proton beam therapy. Unlike conventional radiation therapy, proton beam therapy targets radiation more precisely on the tumor, largely avoiding damage of healthy surrounding tissue, as well as organs near the tumor.

Proton beam therapy is not available in the U.K., so Amy will have to travel to the U.S. to receive the specialized treatment, reports the Baintree and Witham Times.

Fortunately, all of her medical expenses will be paid for by Britain's National Health Service. Her family will have to pay travel expenses, so they are using GoFundMe to raise money to cover costs.
