Fox News Upset That Poor Are Getting Gov. Food Assistance After Food Stamp Cuts (Video)
Fox News host Stuart Varney expressed his fury and frustration on "Fox & Friends" this morning over three state governments that are helping poor people affected by food stamp cuts put into place by the federal government on Jan. 29.
According to RawStory.com, Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania have linked food stamps to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program so that poor people who get heating assistance will also get food stamps.
"Fox & Friends" co-host Brian Kilmeade accused the states of conducting a "scam," noted MediaMatters.org (video below).
“This completely negates, almost entirely negates the cuts that Congress imposed,” Varney fumed. “It shows you, once you’ve got a program, you can never get rid of it and it’s very difficult to cut. Now what’s really going on here is the government’s buying votes. They’re keeping, churning out the food stamps in return for votes. That’s what’s happening.”
After Kilmeade agreed with him, Varney ranted, “You are demagogued to death! You are told that you are taking food out of the mouths of children. You’re making people starve. You are bad because you’re cutting. You can’t win! How will we ever get a handle on our debt if you can’t cut $8 billion out of food stamps over a 10-year period? How will you ever do that?”
