Add diabetes to the list of health health problems that could be caused by red meat. CNN's Cheryl Castro reports that red meat can increase the diabetes risk by some 50%:

The studies don't adjust for lifestyle factors, so the conclusion is actually:
*If* you are prone to type 2 diabetes, red meat makes it worse.
If you are *not* prone to type 2, red meat doesn't seem to matter.
What the research shows is that fattier meats and cured meats are the worst for you, increasing cancer risks and exacerbating type 2 diabetes factors. Lean meat doesn't seem to have any negative impacts if you are otherwise healthy.
