Supermarkets Offer Free Mammograms to Women (Video)
Supermarkets in Texas are now giving free mammograms to female shoppers.
The Breast Center For Excellence and United Supermarkets offered the mammograms via a grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas at an United Supermarket in Amarillo, Texas on Saturday (video below).
The mammograms are also being offered June 18 at United Supermarkets in Canyon, Texas and on June 19 in Amarillo, Texas, reports ConnectAmarillo.com.
However, there are a few hoops to jump through to get the free mammogram.
Women must be residents of Texas, uninsured, over age 40, bring a valid I.D. and provide proof of their income or government assistance.
Texas Governor Rick Perry has refused to accept Obamacare funds to expand Medicaid in the state, noted the Texas Observer.
Texas has the highest rate of uninsured residents, at 28.8 percent, reported Amarillo.com.
