Report: O.J. Simpson Undergoing Tests For Brain Cancer, Seeks Pardon From Obama
Former football legend turned convict O.J. Simpson is undergoing tests for brain cancer and wants a pardon from President Barack Obama so he can die at peace at home, according to a recent report.
The 66-year-old, who is serving a 33 year prison sentence for assault, robbery and kidnapping, is undergoing medical exams for a cancerous brain tumor and is convinced his days are numbered.
“O.J. says his memory is slipping and he gets painful headaches and other symptoms,” a source told the Enquirer. These symptoms include blurry vision, occasional stuttering, hearing problems, confusion, bursts of anger, and depression, according to the report.
“He put off the doctors for weeks after he first started experiencing the symptoms because he was afraid of what they would find,” the source said. “Now the prison docs are telling him they believe he has a brain tumor. They plan to run a series of tests on him, MRIs and CT scans.”
Simpson is so convinced that he doesn’t have much time to live that he is requesting a pardon from President Obama so he can “die comfortably at home,” Mail Online reports.
The Enquirer reports Simpson wrote the president: “Mr. President, I know my life is coming to an end. Please, don’t let me die in prison.”
Simpson still has four years left to serve at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada in order to be eligible for parole.
The report claims Simpson’s failing health is a result of his diabetes and unhealthy lifestyle at the prison, which includes a lack of physical activity.
Simpson’s lawyer Ozzie Fumo, however, told Mail Online that he was not aware of his client’s poor health.
“As far as I know his health is very good, he was going just fine,” Fumo said. “I spent a lot of time with him preparing for the retrial motion and he never once mentioned diabetes.”
Simpson is serving a 33-year prison sentence for his conviction on armed robbery, kidnapping and other charges in a 2007 confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel.
The convicted former pro football player claimed he was merely trying to get back items that had been stolen from him after being acquitted in the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman.
According to Mail Online, Simpson allegedly confessed to the 1994 murders and told a prison mate he will write a confession letter before he dies.
