8-Year-Old Wyatt Erber Donates His $1,000 Prize to Cara Kielty, Who has Leukemia

Wyatt Erber, 8, won $1,000 in a scavenger hunt in Edwardsville, Illinois, but donated the entire prize to Cara Kielty, 2, who has leukemia.

Cara's mother, Trisha Kielty, told the St Louis Post-Dispatch: "He said 'how much chemo will $1,000 buy Cara?' I'm completely floored by him. To step up and donate his winnings … is crazy."

Cara was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the St Louis Children's Hospital in May, reports the Daily Mail.

Lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common form of leukemia in children and has a high recovery rate. Cara is responding to medical treatments, but will have to continue them for about two-and-a-half years.

In response to Wyatt's $1,000 donation, the organization Edwardsville Neighbors in Need also donated $1000. Addiitonally, a Canadian man sent Wyatt $100.
