A woman shared a photo of her breast on Facebook to raise awareness of a little-known sign of cancer.

“Ok, here goes - the Facebook status and photo I never dreamt I'd be posting - PLEASE READ and more importantly LOOK!” Claire Warner posted to Facebook on July 6 with a picture of her left breast.

“This is a picture of my left boob," she continued. "The small purplish bruise is where I had a biopsy taken. The minuscule dimple up and to the left of it is a rare and little-known symptom of BREAST CANCER."

Warner says she noticed the dimple after a friend shared a post on the topic.

“I can’t feel the lump, even now that I know it’s there," Warner wrote. "I’m not ill. My only symptom is this dimple."

Warner’s breast cancer has been diagnosed as invasive ductal carcinoma. She will undergo surgery for the small contained lump, as well as chemo and radiation therapy.

“I hope I’m one of the lucky ones,” she wrote. “I’ve caught it exceptionally early … I’ve every hope of being cured.”

Warner urges women and men to check themselves.

“If I can help one other person, the way I was helped, then it’s been worth showing my soon-to-be-reduced left tit to the world...” she wrote.

Warner’s Facebook post has been shared more than 24,000 times.

Due to the popularity of her post, she has started a Twitter account specifically about her battle with breast cancer.

“Diary of finding a dimple. An unedited brain dump: some rational, some not. Now diagnosed as invasive ductal carcinoma. And it IT IS GOING!” Warner’s My Left Boob (@OfNoSpecialType) Twitter profile reads.

Her preferred hashtag is #CheckForTheDimple.

“Never [thought] my own left boob would go viral,” Warner tweeted July 7.
