Boy Has Heartbreaking Question After Brother Dies (Video)

| by David Bonner

A video (below) of a young boy's question to his mother is tugging at heartstrings on social media.

Sheryl Blanksby describes herself as a blogger from Perth, Western Australia. As her website explains: "This blog was initially established as a makeup blog but times have changed, pregnancy and kids came along and makeup is no longer something I am solely interested in. So, I've decided to change the feel and theme of this blog space to be a little bit of makeup there, lifestyle here, travel there and some funny bits about parenting."

But the funny bits soon turned to tragedy, when her infant son, Thomas, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She later broke the news of Thomas' death on Instagram, as reported by Mirror Online:

It is with immense sadness that we share, our #littlewarriorthomas grew his angel wings yesterday night, 8th of May 2017 at 730pm. He was surrounded by family and right next to his mummy and daddy when he passed away. He fought the good fight especially when he was only expected to live for only short amount of weeks after his diagnosis.  His baby sibling who we miscarried before him that had the same due date was also taken away from us the same date 2 years ago and they are now together with our loved ones who are looking down upon us. He's no longer in pain is our only consolation. We miss him so much everything hurts. Thank for all your kindness and support the last few months.

In the video posted following Thomas' death, his little brother, William, tells his mother, "Thomas is going to miss me."

She then tells William that he can see Thomas if he looks at the sky. Which prompts the little boy to ask: "Will he come back when it's raining?" His mother answers, "Well, that's maybe him saying hello when it's raining."

It's not the first time that an Instagram post by Sheryl Blanksby has gone viral. She previously shared a video of Thomas cradling his terminally-ill brother and telling him: "I'm here, everything is OK."

As she wrote at the time: "I was getting ready in the bathroom and husband was in the kitchen. The kids were quiet, especially Mr preschooler. You know the rules about when kids are quiet. I tiptoed to the lounge with my camera ready to catch anything they are doing. I was expecting my baby to be covered in Nutella or something but instead I saw this. My preschooler is telling his baby brother 'Kuya (big brother) is here. Everything is ok.'"

She closed her announcement of Thomas's death with the hashtag "#fu**cancer."
