U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials said that about 33 cans of marijuana were shot by a pneumatic-powered cannon into a field near where the Colorado River crosses the U.S.-Mexico border in Yuma, Arizona.

The Border Patrol agents said this was "another unique but unsuccessful attempt" to smuggle drugs into the country, on Friday.

The marijuana weighed 85 pounds and was valued at $42,500. After searching the area, Border Agents recovered a carbon dioxide tank, reports CBS Las Vegas.

Border Patrol agents in the Yuma sector near the Arizona-California border say they are adapting as smugglers come up with new ways to get drugs into the U.S.
