An 8-year-old Utah girl has been diagnosed with breast cancer, in a tragic turn of events.

“It was about the middle of October she came to use with a lump on her chest and was scared,” Troy Turner, Chrissy Turner’s father, told Good 4 Utah.

After a series of tests were performed, it was discovered that Chrissy had a rare form of breast cancer known as Secretory Carcinoma. Only one in one million are diagnosed with the cancer, and Chrissy is the youngest person ever to be diagnosed with it.

“I broke down,” Annette Turner, Chrissy's mother, said. “It’s a struggle every day worrying about my family, about my husband and now my baby girl.”

The Turners have a history with medical conditions. Mrs. Turner is a cervical cancer survivor. Mr. Turner was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Mrs. Turner said she was scared the first time she was diagnosed, but she fought it off and knows she can do it again. She noted that her family will do everything they can to overcome the obstacles ahead.

Friends of the family have since started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for medical bills.
