There is little about True Blood that isn’t surprising, especially once we get past the show’s phenomenal success, but something that has struck me is the seemingly never-ending supply of products the show is spinning out in the hopes of enticing fans to help promote it.
From the ability to actually buy True Blood to T-shirts, jewelry, and coffee mugs to Apps and iPhone cases, the show is capitalizing on its cult, “cool” status to an extent that boggles the mind. If you have the slightest inclination to show your support, there is something for every taste, and every level of fan. Whether you want to break out the Fangtasia shot glasses, or Sookie’s waitress uniform, it’s out there waiting for you.
Keeping my eye on such things as I do, I finally have to ask for some thoughts on the subject. Are you a True Blood fan? What is it about True Blood that makes all this branding possible? I mean, you don’t come up with the 400th product unless someone bought a decent helping of the first 399, right?
Now, I like the show, and I actually like the angle of a good deal of the items available. Very soon I’m going to give away several True Blood T-shirts (from among the ones you’re about to see), but before I do, I wanted to get some feedback.
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
Is all this stuff incredibly cool, or is True Blood running away with itself? Do you want it?
By the way, you can find this stuff at the HBO Shop in NYC and at www.HBO.com/store.
Check out a modest selection of available T-shirts, and let me know what you think of the run on True Blood branded items out there. And, stay tuned for the giveaway.
