Hate-Filled Open Carry Gun Advocates Poison AZ Immigration Rally

Proponents for "openly carrying" loaded guns in public revealed their true colors in Arizona on May 30th. Neo-Nazi members and racists showed up at a peaceful immigration rally carrying loaded handguns and rifles and said their weapons were not for show and would use them if necessary.

Such threatening hate speech is beyond the pale and should spark outrage from all Americans to prohibit carrying loaded guns in public.

Could you imagine if an avid racist fired into the crowd and how that would tear the fabric of our country? By allowing the "open carry" of handguns and assault weapons such a scenario could easily become a reality.

Carrying a weapon – open or concealed – is the “issue” but not the problem. Carrying a weapon is not the real danger to the public, it is those who are allowed to carry.
It takes a special kind of calm, controlled and mature person to be able to act, react, constantly assess and re-assess a situation in order to properly make those choices of when, where and how to use a firearm.
Few, if any, of the “ open carry advocates” have that training, operational expertise, ability or maturity. I know… “but I was in Iraq…” Not even close to the same thing.

Issue number 2.
A) It is reasonable to suspect a weapon is loaded – regardless of location or person carrying the weapon.
B) An empty magazine well does not mean there isn’t a live round in the chamber.
C) Based on that reasonable suspicion, a detention by police is legal and permissible.
D) Reasonable Suspicion is defined as a time “when criminality is afoot and the person to be detained (witness, suspect, victim) is involved”.
E) If police officer who is intent on legally detaining a person in possession of a weapon – open carry, concealed, loaded or not – he or she will most likely use a level of force commensurate to the ability of the persons to resist.
So, are “open carry advocates” willing to be controlled at gun-point my multiple police officers to ascertain – for the safety of public at-large – that the weapon is in fact empty?

Under current law and police department policies, this type of action/detention is not only legal, but required for officer-safety.

Should we remove/prohibit/ ban the right to free speech and communications so that no more bad articles are ever written?

is the gun guys, and that is such a misnomer, using the word hate speech when discussing the rights of the citizens of this country.

If they were true American citizens, they would be leading the charge to support the idiot neo- nazi 's right to say, the key being say, what ever they want. That, my ignorant gun guy friends is the heart of what it means to be an American and what our founding fathers envisioned. Doing anything other than screaming at the top of their collective lungs is an entirely different matter, but so what if their speech was hateful. This is America, we should be able to say whatever we want, when ever we want.

Unfortunately, the leftists amoung us, gun guys included, would not know the first thing about being true Americans if it bit them in the knee.

percentage of the anti- illegal aliens group were the neo Nazis exactly? I'm betting <1% of protesters.

You should be saying that neo-nazis(damned socialists) should be another reason people should have weapons. What would happen if they( republican party /neo-nazis) get power again and millions of "terrorist" veterans support them and force their religion on you? You've disarmed the rational, free thinking, baby killers. They can't fight back and America will die. Oh wait, that's what you want.

This bowl of spagetti has me too confused. Buy a firearm and defend yourself.

I don't follow anyone, because those that appear to be on the same path usually end up just getting in my way.

They AREN'T for show. Firearms make horrible accessories. They are serious business and should never be taken lightly.

That they were NOT USED against political opponents is a good thing, stupid.

If it takes stretched imaginations to come up with arguments against open carry , then you have lost the argument.

Period.
