NFL: Jim Harbaugh Leaving Stanford, Heading to 49ers

| by Off The Record

Andrew Luck might want to think twice about returning to Stanford. His head coach, Jim Harbaugh, has opted not to return to the Cardinal. Instead, he will accept the head coaching job with the San Francisco 49ers.

The deal is reportedly worth 25 million over 5 years and officially ends all the hoopla and speculation regarding Harbaugh’s future. Coincidentally, the 49ers, who are in need of a franchise QB, may be in position to trade up in this years NFL draft. Would that be enough to make Luck change his mind?

Let us not forget the stint Eli Manning pulled in 2004 when he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers. After pouting with his thumb in his mouth, the Chargers eventually traded Manning for NC State’s Phillip Rivers.

Now I doubt Luck is the type of kid to hold out for an ideal situation, but just throwing it out there.
