Barry Bonds didn’t kill anybody. He’s not looking to cause any havoc in the world. The United States government, however, is gearing up for an all-out war against the home run king. Bonds has been indicted on four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice pertaining to his grand jury testimony four years ago, and his trial is now under way.
Everyone and their mother knows that Bonds juiced up, even though he claimed before the grand jury to have no idea what that Cream was that he rubbed on his own arm for years. Seriously though, who the hell cares really? I mean, since he has not yet been convicted of anything, we must speak in “alleged” terms. So, if Bonds actually lied, then that sucks. If he is telling the truth, good for him. Other than that, what does it really matter to the average American’s life?
I can understand MLB getting all up in arms because this whole steroid thing has significantly affected their organization; and because of this I also think that it should be MLB bringing the wrath upon Bonds in their own way – not the United States government (aka the taxpayers). Since Bonds allegedly perjured before a grand jury and they went through with the indictment, it will be the taxpayers who will be footing the bill.

No one likes to be lied to. I would rather get punched in the face than deceived by someone that I trust. But I also realize that I must pick my battles in life and that it is just a given that I am going to be lied to every now and again. When it matters, I will call out the jerk who lied to me and get the loser back for all he or she is worth. But for instances where my efforts to get revenge will cost me more than the intended suffering, I will need to cut my losses and just hope that karma will do the work for me. It’s too bad that the United States government couldn’t see the sensibility in this reasoning as well as I do.
