Today, attorney Gloria Allred held a press conference, in which a family she is representing claimed that Atlanta Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell threatened them and hurled anti-gay slurs at the crowd at a Braves/Giants game in San Francisco.
Mega-attorney Gloria Allred announced the allegations moments ago in a news conference — representing a family of four (including two 9-year-old girls) who claim they watched McDowell make the homophobic remark and then use a baseball bat to simulate [sex.]
According to Allred, the family says they witnessed McDowell ask a group of three male fans if they were “together” – but not anywhere near as politely as that.
GLAAD reached out to team officials and will ask them to fully investigate the incident. We will provide updates on this situation as it develops.
“As more and more sports teams refuse to allow this sort of behavior, we urge the Atlanta Braves and Major League Baseball to investigate this matter immediately and work towards ensuring the safety of all fans and players,” said GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios.
