A French supermodel is recovering at a hospital in Paris following an apparent suicide attempt. The Daily Mail describes 30-year-old Noemie Lenoir as a "household name" in the United Kingdom for an ad campaign for a department store.

The tabloid reports Lenoir was found lying in the woods on the outskirts of Paris on Sunday. Lenoir called for an ambulance earlier in the day, saying she "felt very ill." But then she made a second call canceling the ambulance. She was later seen staggering towards the nearby woods, where a man found her.

She apparently overdosed on pills and alcohol at the home of an ex-boyfriend, who is a former Chelsea soccer star and the father of Lenoir's five-year-old son, neither of whom were in the house at the time.

"She was rushed to a nearby hospital and treated for the effects of poisoning. It seems that she may have tried to commit suicide as a cry for help. She’s now in a far better condition and recovering," a source close to the model said.

Friends speculate Lenoir is distraught over the troubles of her current boyfriend, Carl Hirschmann. The multi-millionaire, who once dated Paris Hilton, is involved in an underaged sex and extortion scandal in Switzerland. Hirschmann is accused of having sex orgies with underaged models, then blackmailing them with videotapes made by hidden cameras. He denies the charges.

"Noemie is extremely worried about Carl and has been suffering extreme angst," said another source in Paris. "Knowing that he’s involved with the police and investigating judges in such a serious case is tearing her apart."

Lenoir is well known in Britain for an ad campaign for the store Marks & Spencer. It gave her a contract worth a whopping 10 million pounds (currently worth around $15 million) for her work.

In a statement, the store said, "We're very sorry to hear this and wish Noemie a very speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with her and her family at this difficult time."
