Randy Orton knows how to put on a show for the WWE audience, but he was caught off guard when a fan entered the ring and sucker punched him in the groin from behind.
According to Bleacher Report, Orton was celebrating his victory over Big E Langston at the Grand West Arena in Cape Town, South Africa, on Tuesday evening when a fan tried to ruin the fun.
WWE’s website posted the following message:
“WWE.com has learned that Randy Orton was violently attacked by an audience member during a SmackDown World Tour Live Event in Cape Town, South Africa, yesterday evening. Footage of the attack was captured by a WWE fan and posted to YouTube, and shows the perpetrator striking Orton from behind. The matter is currently under investigation by the local authorities, and the South African fan is being held in jail pending criminal charges. The extent of Orton's injuries are unknown at this time.”
Orton didn’t appear to overreact to the incident, but he did attempt to kick the fan while security was removing the attacker from the ring. Orton also gave him the bird as security took the fan away.
Orton has had a lot of success inside the ring during his career. According to the WWE’s site, he’s been a WWE Champion, a World Heavyweight Champion, an Intercontinental Champion and a World Tag Team Champion.
