I found this Japanese version of the trailer for Iron Man 3 over at Rope of Silicon. While the trailer does contain new footage, in reading the post which accompanies it, I had to nod my head in agreement with Brad Brevet.
There are so many super-hero movies either in the works or announced that they are starting to “to bleed together to the point it’s becoming ‘Oh, here comes another one’.” Fanboys (or girls) might disagree, of course, but I hate the idea that studios are pouring all of their energy and resources into sure-fire franchise sequels, at the expense of finding something unique and interesting. (Films like Argo should be the rule, not the exception, in my humble opinion.) That’s not to say that I can’t or won’t be entertained by Iron Man 3. Robert Downey, Jr. is always worth the price of admission.
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) against an enemy (Ben Kingsley) whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Iron Man 3, directed by Shane Black with a screenplay by Black and Drew Pearce, also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Jon Favreau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale and William Sadler . It blasts into theaters in the UK on 26th April and in the US on May 3. (Wow. That’s only four months away – can you believe it?)
