Check out this creepy trailer (and new poster) for Pascal Laugier's The Tall Man with Jessica Biel. The first time I heard the title I thought it was a remake of the Jeff Goldblum/Emma Thompson comedy, but then I remembered that was The Tall Guy. No, The Tall Man is a horror movie about secrets that hide behind closed doors and it is up to Biel to unravel the spooky legend. Biel, who will soon be seen in Playing the Field with Gerard Butler, is no stranger to horror, having cut her teeth on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.
“In an isolated, slowly dying mining town, children are vanishing without a trace – abducted, the townsfolk whisper, by a mysterious entity known locally as “The Tall Man.” Town nurse Julia Denning (Biel) seems skeptical…until her young son David disappears in the middle of night. Frantic to rescue the boy, Julia lives every parent’s darkest nightmare in this twisting, shock-around-each-corner thriller from acclaimed director Pascal Laugier.”
Popular VideoA lot of liberals are outraged over this photo of Ivanka Trump. Do you see anything wrong with it?
The film screened at SXSW in March to mixed reviews. It seems those who saw it either loved it as an homage to American horror films of the 70s-80s or hated it outright. The consensus on Biel’s wig seems to be that it’s pretty damn bad.
The trailer has French subtitles but the dialogue is in English. The Tall Man, which costars Stephen McHattie (300, Immortals), Jodelle Ferland and William B. Davis (yeah! The Cigarette Smoking Man lives!) will be released in select cities in the US on August 31 (DVD and Blu-ray have already been given a September 25 release date so don’t fret if your city isn’t selected). Making his English language debut with this film, Pascal Laugier (Martyrs) is a director of some repute in his native France and it will be released there on September 5. The film's website promises to be live soon, if you're interested.
