Video: Movie Trailer for ' The Sessions ' Sundance Film Festival Award Winner

| by I Need My Fix

We’ve got the theatrical trailer for a movie we haven’t really talked about yet. The Sessions won the Audience Award and the Special Jury Prize for Ensemble Acting  (Drama) at Sundance back in January and is set to screen at TIFF next month. It’s also already being talked about with reference to awards contention for both of its stars, Oscar winner Helen Hunt and previous nominee John Hawkes.  Based on the life of journalist-poet Mark O’Brien, the film start out being called The Surrogate, which tells you a little bit more about the plot:

“Academy Award® nominee John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone) stars in this funny and touching comedy-drama about a childhood polio survivor — now in his thirties and permanently confined to an iron lung — who hires a professional sex surrogate (Academy Award® winner Helen Hunt) to help him lose his virginity.”

Take a look:

Directed by Australian Ben Lewin (The Favour, the Watch and the Very Big Fish) from his own script, The Sessions also stars William H. Macy, Moon Bloodgood, Annika Marks, and W. Earl Brown.

The film will get a limited US release on October 26, but not until 18th January in the UK. We also have a couple of posters and some stills to share. In the clip below we’re introduced to Cheryl Cohen Greene (Hunt) who wants us to know she’s not a prostitute, as well as Mark O’Brien (Hawkes), her client.
