It might just be me and it’s possible that you need to be a Babs fan to appreciate this (it certainly couldn’t hurt), but I think The Guilt Trip looks very funny. Actually, I’m pretty sure that if you’re an adult and if you’ve got a mother, you’ll probably be able to appreciate the humor. The question will be whether or not they can sustain it for 90-some minutes without becoming grating like fingernails on a chalkboard.
“Andy Brewster is about to embark on the road trip of a lifetime, and who better to accompany him than his overbearing mother Joyce. After deciding to start his adventure with a quick visit at mom’s, Andy is guilted into bringing her along for the ride. Across 3,000 miles of ever-changing landscape, he is constantly aggravated by her antics, but over time he comes to realize that their lives have more in common than he originally thought. His mothers advice might end up being exactly what he needs.”
Directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses), The Guilt Trip costars a huge and hugely talented cast including Kathy Najimy, Adam Scott, Dani Pudi, Colin Hanks and Yvonne Strahovski, was written by Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love) and will be released December 25, 2012. Expect much more in the coming weeks from this one.
