Everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog is blasting his way back into our homes, in Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II. The game will pick up where Sonic 4: Episode I left off, and promises to be a ton of retro fun. Personally, I loved Episode I, it’s a real throwback to the original Genesis days.

There’s been a few upgrades from Episode I. Most notably, Tails is back, and no doubt his flying abilities will come in handy. In addition to lifting Sonic out of harm’s way there will also be some new team up techniques for the duo. Dr. Robotnik/Eggman will have his evil hands full this time around.
Of course, there are some graphical improvements, more than 16 layers have been used to create 3D visuals. Even better, NVIDIA Tegra 3 devices will be able to run the game at 720p. We should be seeing a few phones and tablets with this hardware popping in the next couple of months. What this means is that you will get the same experience playing Sonic on your tablet/phone as you would on your Xbox 360 or PS3. Pretty impressive stuff.

Most important of all, the gameplay looks to be just as fast and furious as Episode I, if not more so. It’s the speed and the flow of the original Sonic titles that make them so addicting and fun. Thankfully, Episode II seems to be sticking to the same formula. Get your twitch reaction timing ready, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II will be hitting this Spring.
