After reversing course on his decision to ban a Canadian beauty queen who was born male from his Miss Universe Canada pageant, Mr. Trump is taking shots at Jenna Talackova's celebrity attorney, Gloria Allred.
Allred recently insisted that all beauty pageants be open to all contestants, even those born transgendered, calling on Trump by name: "Mr. Trump, admit that you are wrong and get rid of your Trump-ed up rule."
The Donald is apparently no fan of Gloria Allred's media-friendly legal style. He had a few unkind things to say about her involvement in the case, "I did not know that she had a lawyer, and especially Gloria Allred," Trump told ABC News. “In fact, had I known it was Gloria Allred, I probably would not have reversed my decision because, you know, Gloria is easy to beat.”
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
Talackova, 23, became one of 65 finalists in the Trump-owned Miss Universe Canada 2012 competition. Last week she was disqualified for being born biologically male. Talackova underwent sexual reassignment surgery at age 19 and asserts that excluding her from competition amounts to gender discrimination.
Faced with potential lawsuits, Trump's organization backtracked from their initial position and allowed Talackova back into the competition.
"I think Jenna should focus on running up in Canada and seeing how she does in Canada and then, if she does well, she has a chance to become what many, many young women all over the world want to be," said Trump. "And that's Miss Universe."
