Video: 'Dark Blood,' River Phoenix’s Final Film, to Premiere

'Dark Blood,' the final movie appearance by the late actor River Phoenix, will finally be released after 18 years, reports LaughingSquid.com.

Phoenix died of a heart attack in 1993 outside the Viper Room in Los Angeles. He was 23 years old.

The director of 'Dark Blood," George Sluizer will premiere the film, on September 27, at the Netherlands Film Festival, reports the Hollywood Reporter. The trailer is below.

The 80-year-old Sluizer found money for post-production and editing financing from the Netherlands Film Fund and the crowd-financing site Cinecrowd.com.

After Phoenix's death, Sluizer took the film's footage back to the Netherlands, where he kept it hidden.

'Dark Blood' also stars Judy Davis, Jonathan Pryce and Karen Black.
