Tyra Banks has graduated from the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
The creator of America’s Next Top Model graduated on Friday, Us Weekly confirms. Banks was a drop-out from Loyola Marymount University as she left to pursue modeling at age 17. Her desire to better her brand led to her enrollment in Harvard Business School.
Banks said in 2011 that she enrolled in Harvard because she wanted her company to grow and become the “best” in order to reach the female audience she wanted. She admits that her decision to go back to school was met with skepticism at first. She said about other’s expectations: “When people have low expectations, you’re just constantly going, ‘Ta-da!’ And they’re like ‘Wow!’. It doesn’t take a lot to wow them.”
Prior to her graduating, Banks was the first African American woman to appear on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. As well as creating America’s Next Top Model, she has also appeared in a handful of films, and hosted her own talk show from 2005-2010.
