'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1' Sells Out 2500 Shows

| by Michael Allen

'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1,' which opens Thursday night at midnight (and premieres in Los Angeles), has already sold out out more than 2,500 showtimes on Fandango.com. Theaters owners are reporting sold-out showtimes across the country, while posting additional showtimes to meet the fan demand. 'Breaking Dawn, Part 1' currently represents 93% of today’s ticket sales, but can it beat 'Harry Potter'?

BoxOffice.com editor Phil Contrino said, as of now, his tracking site was calling for a $155 million opening weekend. That would make 'Breaking Dawn, Part 1' the top-opening 'Twilight' movie of all, and the third-biggest-opening Hollywood movie of all time. However, $155 million would not be enough to top 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,' which pulled $169.2 million in its first weekend.
