Twerking For Halloween: MIley Cyrus, Robin Thicke Costumes Expected To Be Top Sellers This Year

Because really, who wouldn’t want to be just like Miley Cyrus at the VMA Awards?

One of the most popular Halloween costumes this year is expected to be the “Twerkin’ Teddy,” sold by the nationwide Halloween retailer Spirit Halloween.

The 20-year-old former Hannah Montana star’s bizarre performance at August’s VMA awards ceremony was widely interpreted as a sign the young star was undergoing an emotional crisis or mental breakdown of some kind.

During the unusual display, Cyrus engaged in repeated attempts at “twerking,” the suddenly popular dance move in which the most-often female dancer shakes her hips and buttocks in a sexually suggestive, rapid vertical motion.

She appeared on the broadcast in a teddy, which is replicate by the new Halloween costume, which retails for $39.99. Also available for $8.99, a “Party Finger,” an oversized foam hand with the index finger raised, similar to the large foam finger with which Cyrus simulated masturbation during her VMA performance.

During the performance, Cyrus sang and danced a duet with pop star Robin Thicke, whose song “Blurred Lines” was a No. 1 hit this summer, but was also widely criticized for lyrics that seemed to advocate date rape. On the broadcast, Thicke wore a suit with large, black-and-white vertical stripes.

A replica of the suit is also available as a $39.99 Halloween costume.

The costumes are expected to be top sellers.
