| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

During a particularly noisy class period, a French math teacher recently decided he could do a lot worse than detention.

The unnamed teacher asked his class of about 70 students who watches the HBO show Game of Thrones, and nearly every hand went up, according to the Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad.

A judge looked this inmate straight in the eyes and said something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

“Well, I’ve read all the books,” he told the class. “If there is too much noise, I will write the name of the dead on the board. They are enough to fill the whole year, and I can even describe how they die.”

When several students continued to chat, the teacher promptly listed all the dead characters for season three on the board.

What followed was described by one student as “religious silence.”

The fourth season of the show premieres April 6.

A student in the class first wrote of the teacher’s [evil] genius on French site DansTonChat.
