In potentially very good telly news, Christopher Guest has written and directed his first ever TV series. And it starts on HBO in May.

Family Tree stars Chris O’Dowd steadily uncovering oddballs he’s related to. The exciting bit is it also stars fellow Spinal Tap collaborator Michael McKean, as well as their regular co-stars Fred Willard and Ed Begley Jr. It’s also got Nina Conti in it as a woman with a puppet monkey. How did they come up with that idea?

The good news for those of us who don’t live in America (because there is NO other way to see US TV shows) is it’s going to be on BBC2 as well. Because it’s one of those co-production thingys.

There’s a whole website for it here.  But there's not much on it yet.
