Lark Voorhies of Saved By The Bell has acted a bit off in recent years, something her mother attributes to her bipolar disorder.
The 38-year-old played the adorable Lisa Turtle on the hit television show.
Lark has stayed away from the spotlight after “Saved by the Bell” ended in 1993, unlike her other co-stars Mario Lopez, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and Tiffani Thiessen.
Voorhies’ mother, who shares a home with her daughter in Pasadena, California, reveals the reason for her leaving showbiz and her strange behavior is actually due to mental illness.
But, Voorhies won’t face up to having a mental disorder and denies there is an issue.
Lark was asked if she was suffering from any chronic condition including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and she stated, “Oh no. We’re alive in a major time of all-in-all prophecy.”
Lark, who is a Jehovah’s Witness, explained her long silences during conversations as praying, adding, “I have a strong spiritual sense.”
Lark Voorhies said of her issues, “They don’t explain it. They can’t treat it. They don’t know about it.”
But her mother hopes one day her daughter’s life will be better, saying, “She’s trying so hard. She says she’s delayed, but she’s going to get there.”
