A San Diego sports anchor has been suspended for all-but calling race car driver Danica Patrick a "b***h" on live television.

Ross Shimabuku was doing a report last Monday on the local Fox station which included a sound bite of Patrick saying she doesn't understand why female athletes have to be described as "sexy." She asked, "Is there any other word you can use to describe me?"

Shimabuku later apologized in a post on the station's website:

"I truly apologize if I offended anyone by those comments. It was not meant to be an attack on Danica, I’ve worked with her before in Phoenix. I think she’s great for the sport."

But it was not enough -- the New York Daily News reports Shimabuku has been suspended for a week.
