Comedian, actor and on-again-off-again addict Russell Brand, 36, has surrendered his claim to the $6.5 million mansion in the Hollywood Hills that owned in common with his ex-wife singer Katy Perry, 27. The star couple closed on the seven-bedroom home just last June.
The couple also held a number of other real estate assets including a two-bedroom New York City penthouse valued at $2.68 million and another Southland pad valued at $3.3 million.
It was initially unclear who would retain most of the marital assets as the couple never entered into a prenuptial agreement ahead of the ceremony. Under California state law, Brand was entitled to $20 million worth of Katy Perry’s assets accrued during the time that they were married, but it’s beginning to look like he’ll be walking away with far less.
Court documents filed in February contain a statement from Brand say that the defunct couple have “entered into a comprehensive written settlement of all issues, including, without limitation, with respect to the property to be confirmed or assigned to each party.”
