Well we knew Regis Philbin couldn’t stay in retirement for too long!
Less than two weeks after ending his 28-year stint on Live!, Regis reveals that he plans on producing a new talent show for primetime television. He tells New York Post’s Page Six:
“We’re contemplating a show that is sort of a talent show, but it involves the whole family…a family competition, which is something new in our business. It’s going to be on prime time when it happens.”
Philbin also reveals that he has been offered other projects by Gangland producer Michael Manshel.
In the absence of Regis on Live! the show has now been re-named Live! with Kelly. Neil Patrick Harris has taken the seat next to Kelly beginning on November 28 and will remain there until December 2. Regis thinks that Neil always does a great job on the show, but he will not become a permanent host. He says:
“They’ve got to find someone who has the time right now to do that. Neil was great and he will probably pinch hit, I’m sure. They have to keep looking around until they find someone that really appeals to Kelly… and then they’ll go for it.”
