Actor Ray Romano’s wife, Anna Romano, has “dodged a bullet” and won her battle with breast cancer.

Anna Romano was diagnosed with stage one cancer in February, 2010 after doctors discovered a lump in her right breast during a routine mammogram.

Anna, 48, who has been married to the comedian for 24 years, told close friends and family about the cancer but kept her diagnosis out of the public eye.

Anna had four rounds of chemotherapy to combat her cancer, admitting going bald took its toll on her self-esteem.

She told People magazine, “I’m already shy and the last thing I wanted to do was walk around bald.”

The mother of four has made a full recovery and Anna insists her battle taught her to take care of herself, stating, “I take on everybody’s stress, but this had to be all about me. I’m not like that!”

Ray said they made the decision to keep his wife’s breast cancer a secret but are now going public with the news to help others.

Romano said, “We dodged a bullet. Now we want to give back.”
