Beginning in 2004, the creators of the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) hoped to turn the event into an annual occurrence. Flash forward to 2012 where plans are already in place to create a PAX Australia for 2013, the first event of its kind outside of the United States.

The news was announced in PAX Prime 2012 by creators Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, expressing interest in also holding a PAX event in the UK. VentureBeat said that the duo “want to go there.”

Dates for PAX Australia 2013 have yet to be set.

The Penny Arcade Expo is an event where new console, computer and tabletop games are just one of several attractions that celebrate gaming culture. The center piece of the festival is the Omegathon in which randomly selected participants compete for a prize in games like Halo, Tetris or Skee ball.

Currently three PAX events are held in the United States: PAX Prime and PAX Dev occur in Seattle, Washington while PAX East occurs in Boston, Mass.

SlashGear reports that the city of Boston will be the home for PAX East for the following 10 years.
