Amy Adams is known for her brilliant acting chops, having received five Oscar nominations since the start of her career. But what she did while on a flight from Detroit to Los Angeles last week has people all over the world praising her for being a genuinely good person.

After boarding a flight to Los Angeles, Adams reportedly traded her first-class seat for a soldier’s coach seat.

Jemele Hill, cohost of ESPN’s “Numbers Never Lie,” was on the same flight and tweeted from the plane after witnessing the genuine act of kindness: “Just saw actress Amy Adams do something incredibly classy. She gave her 1st class seat to an American soldier. I'm an even bigger fan now.”

Hill then described the situation to Today in an email while still on the flight.

"When we were waiting to board, I saw her glance the soldier's way and then she said something to the person she was traveling with," said Hill. "Once we boarded, I saw she was in first class. I was upgraded to first class and she was a couple rows behind me. I think she must have said something to the flight attendant, because before we took off she had vacated her seat and the flight attendant brought the soldier to her seat."

Adams reportedly moved back to coach and was greeted by other passengers who praised her action. A passenger named Ernest Owens was even able to snap a selfie with the actress after applauding her for the good deed.

“[Adams] said it's something she always wanted to do and she just decided to put her money where her mouth is,” said Owens to Inside Edition.

Immediately after leaving the plane, Adams was approached by reporters with Inside Edition asking her about her good deed. And if it seemed like the Oscar-nominated actress couldn’t get any classier, her response proved just how classy she really is.

“I didn’t do it for attention for myself,” said Adams. “I did it for attention for the troops.”

It was later reported that Adams, 39, was born on a U.S. military base in Italy and grew up on a base in Colorado.
