Parenting Boycotts Ben & Jerry’s Schweddy Balls Ice Cream

| by Michael Allen

The conservative activist group recently announced that they are starting a boycott of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream over a new flavor called 'Schweddy Balls.' The group, which is affiliated with the American Family Association, stated on its web site: “The vulgar new flavor has turned something as innocent as ice cream into something repulsive. Not exactly what you want a child asking for at the supermarket.”

On their web site, the organization also states: "Our goal is to stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media (TV, music, movies, etc.). is the most powerful tool you have to stand against the immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity the entertainment media is throwing at your children."

The idea for the Schweddy Balls name came from a 1998 Saturday Night Live sketch featuring Alec Baldwin, who played Pete Schweddy, a baker who brings his odd holiday treat to share with two public radio hosts and says: “No one can resist my Schweddy balls."

The new Ben & Jerry’s flavor consists of vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum flavor, mixed with fudge-covered rum and milk chocolate malt balls.
