Warner Bros did not officially release this new poster for Man Of Steel. It just showed up on Facebook, but not the film's page but that of another Warner Brother's release, The Dark Knight Rises which just came out of dvd and blu-ray today. This poster then immediately went viral. the WB posted it with this message: “Thank you to all of the fans who helped unlock this exclusive Man Of Steel reward in anticipation of The Dark Knight Rises December 4th release on DVD and Blu-ray.” Very nice.
Can we talk about this thing? WTH is with Henry Cavill in those teeny tiny handcuffs? Are they made of Kryptonite? It's all very sinister despite the ethereal light shining on Supe. This is just a big tease anyway. Even though the flick doesn’t open until June 14, a second trailer will be attached to Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey which opens December 14, six months to the day from Man of Steel. (For those interested, there will also be nine minutes of Paramount’s Star Trek Into Darkness in IMAX 3D and the first full trailer in front of conventional theatrical Hobbit screenings. But I digress.)
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”
The supporting cast is led by Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Zack “300” Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer (Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy), who wrote the story with Nolan. Man of Steel opens in 3D and IMAX theatres on June 14, 2013 in the US and the UK.
