NBC News announced Monday that it has hired Chelsea Clinton as a "special correspondent" -- the latest in a long line of unqualified hirings of the offspring of famous people by the network.
NBC said Clinton will report for "Nightly News" and the new primetime news magazine "Rock Center with Brian Williams." Yahoo! News said she would work on stories that fit within NBC's "Making a Difference" franchise.
In a statement NBC News president Stave Capus said, "Given her vast experiences, it's as though Chelsea has been preparing for this opportunity her entire life."
Of course, Clinton has absolutely no television reporting experience. She also has no experience even talking to the news media. She refused to speak to reporters even after she voluntarily thrust herself into the public eye when she went on the campaign trail with her mother. Once a child reporter for a school newspaper asked her a question and Clinton famously replied, "You're cute by I don't talk to reporters."

In addition to Clinton, the crack NBC News staff also includes Jenna Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, Meghan McCain, daughter of Sen. John McCain, and Luke Russert, son of the late NBC host Tim Russert. All had virtually no experience before landing their plum network gigs.
