A man is suing Chicago Bulls player Derrick Rose after he said Rose's injury and subsequent absence from this year's season led him to gain weight and have mental breakdowns.

Matthew Thompson, 25, of Peoria, Ill., said Rose's serious ACL injury led him to suffer from severe emotional distress, leading him to become obese.

Rose will likely miss this year's playoffs and already missed last year's playoffs.

Thompson said Rose is displaying "negligent behavior" by refusing to play basketball when doctors gave him the green light to play last month.

While Rose has been absent from the team, the Bulls made it to the 2013 NBA Playoffs, but are off to a tough start. They lost against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

As of now, it is not known if the county will take Thompson's lawsuit seriously.
