The last pic we got from Neil Blomkamp’s Elysium, was back in July. At that point, the long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s District 9 was slated for a March 2013 release. It’s been pushed back to August (here in the US). I’m not sure what that means, but in any case we have two new pics to share, including a first look (thanks to our friends at Empire) at Sharlto Copley’s villain, Kruger – a maniacal bounty hunter- as well as Matt Damon‘s Max.
“In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy “Coordinators,” people who can afford bio-genetical engineering, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, built by the Armadyne Corporation, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes, a hard government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky ex-con Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.”
Popular VideoIt turns out President Trump's budget has $2 trillion error in it:
Blomkamp directed from his own script. The terrific supporting cast includes Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Diego Luna, Alice Braga, Sonia Braga, Talisa Soto and Faran Tahir
Elysium is due in the US on August 9 and the UK on 20th September. Much more to come.
