Kirstie Alley says John Travolta is Not Gay
We’re hearing a lot from Kirstie Alley lately which makes sense because the 61-year-old actress came out with a tell-all book Tuesday (November 6).
Not only has Alley revealed that she and the late Patrick Swayze fell in love back in 1985 while both were married (though she insists they never had an ‘affair’), but now she’s claiming that the greatest love of her life is/was John Travolta, despite all the gay rumors you might’ve heard.
This is what Alley had to say about the topic to Barbara Walters: “I know John with all my heart and soul; he’s not gay.”
Alley goes on to make a guess as to why her fellow Scientologist friend has had these rumors surrounding him for so long. She says, “I think in some weird way, in Hollywood, if someone gets big enough and famous enough, and they’re not out doing drugs and they’re not womanizing, what do you say about them?”
The actress, who is also very close with Travolta’s wife Kelly Preston, claims she first fell in love with Johnny boy when the two met on the set of Look Who’s Talking in 1989.
She adds, “Believe me, it took everything I had inside, outside, whatever, to not run off and marry John and be with John for the rest of my life.
When asked about why she didn’t do it (although she was married to Parker Stevenson at the time, Travolta was reportedly single), she answers, “I feel like when you marry someone, you’re supposed to work hard at it and you’re supposed to make it work.”
Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to make her marriage work. Alley and Stevenson divorced in 1997.
I don’t know what to think about this other than the fact that maybe Alley doesn’t really know Travolta as well as she seems to think. It’s possible Preston doesn’t either, then again, she has been called one of the best ‘beards’ Hollywood has ever had.
