Judge Judy is about to understand what it feels like to stand in front of a judge. She will reportedly be defending herself against a plaintiff, who claims Judge Judy helped to fraudulently keep some expensive $500,000 china dishes from her.
The lawsuit claims that the show’s producer, Randy Douthit, sold Judge Judy china from his wife Patric Jones, TMZ reports. The dishes were worth an estimated $500,000 and Jones, the plaintiff, claims that Judge Judy paid a mere 10 percent of that—$50,000.
Jones is asking for Judge Judy to either give her back the dishes or pay her the full monetary value, after asserting that the TV judge was a part of a fraudulent scheme meant to prevent Jones from obtaining the china after the divorce.
Interestingly, Judge Judy told TMZ—who claims to have seen the lawsuit—that she was unaware that any such lawsuit has been filed.
“I have not seen any complaint by the former Mrs. Douthit, however I don’t owe this lady a cent,” Judge Judy said. “And if this 50-year-old woman would spend her time more productively at trying to find a job, instead of abusing the judicial system with frivolous lawsuits, we would all be a lot better off.”
