What if our greatest heroes became our greatest threat? That is the veiled statement that leads into the Injustice: Gods Among Us trailer that was unveiled at E3 recently. Partnering up for another go around, DC Comics and NetherRealm Studios are presenting a brand new fighting game in which the heroes and villains of the DC universe once again challenge each other for supremacy over the world – but the heroes in Injustice may not be all that heroic after all. With multiple characters, including Superman, Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman, Solomon Grundy and Harley Quinn shown in the trailer, and more to be announced all stemming from DC’s massive library, it will be interesting to see what other characters will be added to the roster in the future.
Ed Boon similarly describes that the level of violence in Injustice will follow the same guidelines as those found in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe – so even though some heroes may not be on the up and up, don’t go expecting any spinal tears or exploding heads. From what was shown, however, the game does seem pretty brutal with characters being thrown completely through buildings, sent into sub-orbit with shattering punches, and environmental dangers and weapons being used to hinder the opponent and cause massive amounts of damage. This crazy, over-the-top action should suffice to satisfy hardcore gamers who expect certain gameplay qualities from NetherRealm.
