Great Falls, Montana, Residents Fall for Fake Zombie Alert (Video)

| by Michael Allen

An emergency broadcast on KRTV-TV told Great Falls, Montana, residents today that there were reports of “dead bodies rising from their graves” in several counties, (video below).

The disembodied voice said: “The bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and are attacking the living. Do not attempt to approach or apprehend these bodies, as they are considered extremely dangerous.”

KRTV-TV posted a notice on their website apologizing for the mistake and blaming a hacker for the fake report of a zombie attack:

Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and the CW that there was an emergency in several Montana counties.

This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency.

Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets.

According to MyFoxDC, the emergency broadcast scared some residents into calling the police. The Great Falls Tribune reports the hoax alert generated at least four calls to police to see if it was true.
