According to recently released court papers, Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN) testified in his 2001 divorce trial that he slept with two patients, two co-workers and a drug rep when he was a practicing physician.
The "pro-life" and "family values" congressman also admitted in court that he encouraged his ex-wife to have an abortion, reports the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Chip Forrester said: "The power brokers in the Republican Party can no longer hide behind DesJarlais’ shameful and selfish lies. Reality is staring them in the face. It’s time they addressed these disgusting facts and held him accountable for his continued pattern of lies, deception and hypocrisy.”
Forrester called for Rep. DesJarlais to resign and said he should be “be barred from practicing medicine.”
