Director John Schnepp Confirms Boba Fett Star Wars Spinoff

A spin-off movie featuring the beloved Boba Fett is in the works, according to Metalocalypse director John Schnepp.

“One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact,” Schnepp said. “I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”

Ever since Disney bought the Star Wars franchise, fans have been dying to know how the series will continue. While episodes seven through nine were confirmed early on, it was unclear what the spin-off movies might detail. Boba Fett was a likely character considering his popularity, despite having little actual screen time.

Many have considered that the movie may not be an origin story so much as a story chronicling Boba Fett’s growth toward becoming a ruthless bounty hunter.

Some plot theories include Boba Fett knowing that most of the Empire’s army are clones of his father, or the bounty hunter making a deal with Darth Vader.

Though Disney has kept casting a secret, it is rumored that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher will return to play their original roles.

The first franchise movie is expected to hit theaters in 2015.
