‘The Dark Knight Rises’ May Break ‘The Avengers’ Midnight Record

'The Dark Knight Rises' may have already shattered a box office record. reports that the third Batman film by Christopher Nolan should pass Marvel’s 'The Avengers‘ $18.7 million as the largest midnight show of all time.

The online ticket seller says that 'The Dark Knight Rises' has 2,500 sold-out showtimes and this may be's top-selling Thursday in the company’s 12–year history. 'The Dark Knight Rises' currently represents 91% of Thursday’s ticket sales for

'The Dark Knight Rises' will debut in 4,404 theaters from Friday through Sunday, including 332 IMAX locations.

In North America, 'The Dark Knight Rises' has already made $25 million in pre-sales. 'The Avengers' holds the domestic record for the largest opening weekend gross, but 'The Dark Knight Rises' may break that mark as well.
