"The Daily Show" substitute host, John Oliver, started off his first show while Jon Stewart is away with a segment called “Good News! You’re Not Paranoid!" brought to you by "tinfoil, why not wear it as a hat?" (video below).

“It turns out not only is the government tracking everyone’s phone calls, but that is just the tip of the s---berg,” Oliver said.

According to Mediaite.com, Oliver said the NSA was monitoring “vastly more information than even George Orwell wet the bed over."

He added: “So thanks to a bespectacled whistleblower [Edward Snowden] we now know that the government has been actively collecting an unprecedented amount of information on that small select group of us who either make phone calls or use the Internet."

“I’ve got to say, I bet the Amish are feeling pretty f------ smug right now, or they would be feeling that way if they had any idea this story was happening,” Oliver said.
