Country Singer Rodney Atkins Avoids Prison For Domestic Assault

Country singer Rodney Atkins has been cleared of a domestic assault charge in connection with an argument with his wife Tammy at their Nashville home, where she claimed he tried to suffocate her with a pillow.

A county judge in Franklin, Tennessee ruled Wednesday that the misdemeanor charge will be expunged from his record if he completes a series of court-ordered mandates.

Back in November, Tammy Atkins called police claiming her hubby had been drinking when he tried to smother her with a pillow and threw her down the hallway during a disagreement.

Atkins was arrested and released on $2,500 bail. He denied Tammy’s accusations and filed for divorce.

Rodney has voluntarily undergone and passed court-ordered assessments for anger management and substance abuse.

The judge retired the charge, but ordered the country star to complete 30 hours of community service.

Rodney will be performing on Thursday in Jackson, Mississippi.
